Nicola Parsons: CAER Studio artist/project coordinator

Woven art by Nicola Parsons

I am a Scenic Painter and Community Artist. I have been a freelance scenic artist for the last 14 years since graduating with a BA Hons Art & Aesthetics degree at UWIC. I have a PGCE teaching qualification. During the past 5 years I have focused on my work as a community artist. I have worked on a wide range of funded art projects in schools, colleges and youth centres mainly with minority or dis-engaged groups with various arts charities. I am passionate about creating large scale artwork that makes an impact, and have been lucky enough to work on worldwide opera sets. In my personal work I always keep a sketchbook and I make work as a textile artist. I am inspired by nature, my husband who is a musician, along with my two wonderful young girls age 1 and 5, who are a daily inspiration! I find music a real inspiration too. I am also inspired by textures, colour and artistic methods and I love pushing these boundaries to create experimental art. I love going to music festivals, gigs and travelling to exciting places!
